Sgraffito day 4 and 5

The challenge is to do 5 sketches in powder in 5 minutes each.  You can't really preplan what you're going to do so you just move your fingers or your tools until something grabs you.
The owl is the best of the 5 and is ok.  I was more successful today with the goat, very pleased with the goat.

More watercolors

Watercolors seem to be calling me here at the beginning of the new year.  I can't say I'm terribly inspired to paint them but I do love the magic of laying down color on wet paper and watching it find it's own way.  I am determined to find different ways of painting appealing landscapes, using new colors and colors one wouldn't think would go together.  It's something I'm learning from the glass, I think.  Anyway here are two new small watercolors, yesterday and today.

Sgraffito 30 in 30 Day 2

Painting with glass powders is not easy but it is fun!   A fat and sassy cat face popped in my head today. All done with just the fingers, no additional tools. Pardon the glare on the glass.

  Fall's End
5x7 Watercolor

It was a little warmer today with clear skies.  The meadow across the way had a warmth of color and a small group of trees still had a smattering of leaves.  I embellished the scene to give the feeling of the last days of fall when the leaves are still clinging to their limbs but the color has faded to a variety of browns, dull reds and a bit of amber.
